Welcome Back

Everyone at Rosebank would like to welcome back all of our students and parents and also offer a welcome to our new children and their parents too. We hope you all had a fantastic summer holiday and you are all looking forward to the coming term.

Commonwealth Baton Relay

Rosebank were pleased to take part in the Commonwealth Baton Relay and be the first school within the Vale Royal schools to run the baton from Rosebank to Barnton Primary. We would like to thank everyone who came to help us cheer the children on today and we are pleased that all the children were happy to take part.

New Headteacher

We are very excited announce that Adam Westwater has been appointed as Headteacher of Rosebank School from September 2022. As many of you will know Rosemary will be retiring at the end of this academic year.

Year 6 Residential Visit

The Year 6 have just got back from a fun filled trip to Colomendy! The first residential visit for two years.

When we arrived we met our group leader Kirsten who showed us to our rooms. We all unpacked our bags and made our beds ready for the night.

Our first activity was a team building task where we had to work together to move tyres to get to a platform- all of the children communicated brilliantly with each other. Next we had to work together to design a drainpipe for water to go down, to fill a tube and reach a ping pong ball- we all got very wet!!

Then we had tea and all enjoyed curry or Mac and cheese! Afterwards we all made a campfire and enjoyed singing, telling jokes and toasting marshmallows! We were so tired after such a busy day and had showers and went to bed.

We were up early and in the dining hall at 7:30am for a full English breakfast that we all enjoyed. For our morning activities we climbed Jacob's ladder, again using great teamwork and conquering our fears! Finally we enjoyed a bouldering session, ate our sandwiches and packed up the bus.

There were lots of tired adults and children on the way home, but we had a fantastic time!

Rosebank Chicks

I am sure you will have heard about our Rosebank chicks. They arrived on April 25th and soon provided much excitement as they tapped they way out of their shells. As they grew bigger some pupils have been able to hold them and stroke them.

We now have 6 very cute chicks that are growing fast. If you come into school you will see them out at the front in their Eglu.

KidzFit

All of the children at Rosebank School were recently involved in a healthy lifestyle, physical fitness and personal well-being workshop called Kidzfit. The classes each had a 30 minute slot where they learnt about being healthy and how we can do this in our everyday lives. The children took part in a variety of physical activities and had some class competitions too!

The children were all really engaged in this workshop and it was a fun memorable experience had by all!

The day the Lambs came to School
On Friday January 14th we had a visit from some unusual visitors.  Alex one of our Willow Class pupils lives on a farm and very kindly brought two lambs into school.  Each class took it in turns to meet the lambs. Everyone was very excited to talk to, pat or even feed the lambs.

Thank you to Alex and his mum, Gemma for brining the lambs to school.

Invite a Parent to School Day

This was the second of our 'invite a parent to school' sessions.

This is very popular with the children who love to show the parents the things they do in school, introduce them to their friends and share in activities together.

This time we focussed on Christmas activities.

The children and parents joined in craft activities, listened to stories, played games and made snacks.

Some parents  joined in with singing Christmas songs. It was lovely way to finish the term.

Rosebank Christmas Carols Around the Christmas Tree

It was a real joy to be able to invite parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, family friends and neighbours of the school to join us at school on December 10th. This was originally planned for our traditional Christmas Carol Service in Barnton Methodist Church, however as with so many things this year an outdoor version seemed the better option.

It was a cold and wintery afternoon. Many of the children had joined in decorating our outdoor tree, which looked very festive.  Santa hats helped us to keep warm.

Visitors were welcomed with a warming cup of spice apple punch and a mince pie.

The children and adults gathered round to join in with the singing and to listen to the Nativity story read by pupils from across school.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event.

Sensory Garden Opening

Esther McVey, MP for the Tatton constituency, officially opened the new sensory garden on Friday 24th September 2021.  Governors and representatives from Friends of Rosebank came along to join in the celebration.

This is the completion of Phase 1  - the construction of a sensory pathway.

Work started during the summer holidays.  Rosebank children and their families spent two days chopping, digging and wheel-barrowing.  40 volunteers of 3 generations were involved.  Shrubs, raised beds and pergolas were taken down.   Greenery was chopped up and a skip was filled with the old materials.  Volunteers returned to help move 12 tons of stones to lay the base of the new path.

The funding for Phase 1 has come from a number of sources including Friends of Rosebank School (50/50 Lotto, sponsored events, raffles), Eric Kay Trust, The Co-Operative Community Fund.

We are all very excited about the completion of this part of the project.

Fundraising for Phase 2 is  now under way.

What the children said:

This is..awsome!                                 I love the blue                            I really like it!

Invite a Parent to School Afternoon.

On Friday September 17th we opened the school gates and welcomed parents in for the first time since the start of Covid.

The children were very excited.  They introduced their parents to their teachers and their friends. As so many of our children travel to school by taxi this was the first time many parents had met the teachers or other children in the class.

The parents joined in with coding, story time, art and PE, they made bird feeders and kebabs. Some parents ‘checked in’ with the Zones of Regulation. A lot of children and adults were in the Yellow Zone because they were so excited.

What the parents said:

Great idea and organisation to give parents the opportunity  to join our child in action in the classroom, meet and speak to teachers. Please repeat this event.

It was lovely to come back into school. My child was very excited and really enjoyed it.

What the children said:

I really liked it.

I liked showing my mum around school especially on the track.

It was good and we had fun.

I was very excited.
