Rosebank SchoolListening, Responding, Learning

About Us

Welcome to Rosebank School.

Thank you so much for showing interest in our School.

We are a 49-place local authority special primary school based in Barnton, Cheshire West and Chester, for Autistic Spectrum Condition children with social and communication difficulties. All children are aged between 4-11 years old.

We are lucky to have a dedicated team of staff to support all of our young people in a safe, enjoyable and friendly environment. We aim to inspire learning, develop communication and improve social interaction skills in a National Autistic Society accredited environment, using recognised and relevant ASC friendly strategies alongside an adapted challenging curriculum.

We provide two pathways within school:

  • The ‘Woodlands’ in which children learn a more formal curriculum
  • The ‘Orchard’ where they learn in a more semi formal curriculum.

Both pathways are designed to allow our pupils to make significant progress in their development including independence, community participation and managing emotions.

We believe that everyone in our school community has the right to be listened to, have a chance to respond, so that we can all learn together.

Listen      Respond      Learn

Children have daily access to speech and language therapy (SALT), emotional literacy support (ELSA) as a referred intervention as well as ‘Zones of Regulation’ to support understanding emotions.  Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is core to supporting all children's needs and to inform classroom staff in developing all of our students as well as improving emotional well-being.

We place emphasis on being active and involved as much you can, making sure we aim to give children and families a positive experience of school. Across the year we have parent afternoons, fairs, the famous ‘duck race’, sports days and many more fun activities.

We also have a number of open evenings for prospective families, please contact the admin team to find out dates for them on 01606 74975.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2022) we were rated Good.

Kind regards

Adam Westwater – Headteacher

Everyone at Rosebank will provide a positive, nurturing environment so that the whole school community can feel valued and happy, where everyone has a right to communicate their needs and be responded to in a supportive manner, so that all can develop and learn the skills needed to be as successful as they can be in their lives.”
