Maths and English

English

At Rosebank, we aim to develop each pupil’s ability within speaking and listening, reading and writing, so they are able to effectively communicate their needs and share their thoughts and ideas, as well as reaching their full academic potential. We aim to instil a lifelong passion for reading and writing by supporting our pupils to develop self-confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement, while acknowledging and supporting them in overcoming potential barriers.

How can I help my child with English?  Reading and writing are taught using the Twinkl Phonics scheme. Information on how to help your child to read using phonics is included on this page. As your child begins to learn to read they will read books are colour banded by difficulty and link to your child current phonics level.

Maths

Mathematics is central to life and learning.  Many tasks in later life are based on the earliest skills such as sorting and classifying.   At Rosebank the teaching of Mathematics will help all children to develop the ability for logical thought and decision making skills.

How can I support my child with Maths?  To help you understand how Maths is taught at Rosebank School the Addition and subtraction and Multiplication and division Policies have been included on this page.
