At Rosebank School, we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child is respected, valued and supported to feel safe.

We are alert to the signs and indicators of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns. All staff understand their responsibility to act promptly and appropriately when concerns arise, following our safeguarding and child protection procedures to ensure that children receive the support, protection and, where necessary, intervention they need.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Rosebank School expects all staff, governors, volunteers, students and visitors to share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All members of our safeguarding team receive appropriate training and work closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure that safeguarding concerns are identified, reported and responded to effectively.

Safer Recruitment

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is at the heart of our recruitment procedures.

All staff, volunteers and students working at Rosebank School are subject to the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and safer recruitment procedures. We ensure that individuals are appropriately qualified and suitable to work with children, that their identity and right to work in the UK are verified, and that all required safeguarding checks are completed.

Working with Families and Other Agencies

Safeguarding sometimes requires us to share information and work in partnership with other professionals and agencies where there are concerns about a child's welfare.

Where appropriate, we will discuss concerns with parents or carers and work collaboratively to identify the support a child and family may need. However, there may be circumstances where we cannot inform parents or carers before making a referral or sharing information, particularly where doing so could place a child at further risk or would otherwise be contrary to the child's welfare.

Rosebank School works in accordance with the safeguarding procedures of the Cheshire West and Chester Local Safeguarding Children Partnership.
